First page is 8x10¼, second page is 8x11. Manuscript pages on supergravity and topology written in black ink with corrections in red. Lightly toned, especially along edges. Second page has been torn neatly at top from a pad or larger sheet. Otherwise in fine condition. 2) Card signed in blue ink in unknown hand. 5¾x2¾ card from International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. Card acknowledging receipt of a letter to Salam on Dec. 9, 1989 and saying that he will return to Trieste in the second week of October. Salam (1926-1996, born in Jhang Maghiana, Punjab, India, now Pakistan) was a Pakistani nuclear physist who was the co-recipient of the 1979 Nobel Prize for Physics with Steven Weinberg and Sheldon Lee Glashow. He was the first Pakistani and the first Muslim scientist to win a Nobel Prize. The three formulated the electroweak theory, which unified two basic subatomic forces - the weak nuclear force and electromagnetism - with weak vector bosons, hypothetical subatomic particles that were verified in 1983 at CERN. Salam, who attended school at the Government College at Lahore, received his Ph.D. in physics in 1952 at Cambridge and and worked in Pakistan as a professor of mathematics from before becoming professor of theoretical physics at London's Imperial College of Science and Technology in 1957. His Nobel Prize-winning research was done at the Imperial College. He founded the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, which supports physicists in third world countries in 1964 and served as its director until his death.
